8/21/2002 We have finally gotten some RAIN! The last 2 days have been wonderful. The pastures are already greener and the break from the heat has really made the horses feel good. The vet will be out today and we are having to vaccinate the herd for West Nile as it is now in our state. It is on the other side of the mountains but still to close for comfort so we are better to be safe than sorry. 8/19/2002 We weaned Darius Saturday. It went pretty well as it was a fairly quite parting. He is fully shed out and quite the looker. Most of our other foals are still a little fuzzy so we have not yet seen there real color under the foal coats. We have one filly that we are pretty sure is gray but she sure looks black. Just to be on the safe side we will register her as gray as her sister did the same thing to us and with a gray mom that is the best bet. 8/15/2002 We moved Uzziel in with Jerusalem Sunday and both seem very content. Uzziel is really starting to come into himself and his movement is getting better all the time. The vet was out yesterday and we got a coggins pulled on Darius as well as worming him and getting his shots started to make things go smoothly for his new home. The foals are all almost shed out and we will get new photos up of some of them once they are slicked out. Isaiah is going to be a beautiful color as it looks as if under that foal coat is a very dark and rich bay. What a pretty boy. 8/11/2002 Pete was out earlier this week and we got Jerusalem trimmed as well as Levi, Pharaoh and several more mares. It was cooler for a change since we have finally gotten a little bit of rain and it made it a real joy to be out in the middle of the day. Darius will no longer be available as he has been sold to a lady in Phoenix, AZ by the name of Reta. She plans on showing him later in life so we hope she will keep us posted on how he progresses. Since Darius has not yet been weaned she will be picking him up in a few more weeks. We will let you know when this sweet boy leaves. |
