9/26/2002 The vet was out last Friday and we got the second round of West Nile taken care of. It is a good thing we started on the shots when we did as there now have been 2 sparrows 60 miles away test positive. Hopefully it will get good and cold soon and kill out all the mosquitoes but if not all of our stock is now as protected as it can be. 9/17/2002 Yesterday we replaced some of our 2 strand fence with 3 strand. I am not sure yet if I like it as it will not be as easy to go from one pen to another and it is closer to the ground so we may have to do some weedeating. With the 2 strand the horses take care of it. We just wanted to try it in the 3 pastures we use for foals and see how it goes. We also got a chance to get some photos of Isaiah, his mom and Fancy. If they turn out well we will get them posted up on the site some time this week. 9/8/2002 We got the chance to worm all of the horses today. Everyone was a jewel to both catch and worm except for Bethany. For some reason that girl just hates the wormer. We got out differences worked out as she realized that it was inevitable. Levi and Pharaoh are getting to be very big boys and both have good sensible minds. They are a real pleasure to work with. We have also had more scare about getting enough hay to get us through the winter as the field that we were to get most of our hay off of this year is a new planting and is taking longer to grow enough to cut than planned with the dry summer. All we can do at this point is hope and pray. 9/4/2002 Darius left here early Sunday morning for Phoenix. Reta plans on training him in dressage and showing him later in life. He has such a good mind he should make a wonderful armature mount. We had a nice surprise this morning as there were about 3 dozen wild Canadian geese out in our pasture next to the drive. What a beautiful site. |
