BREEDING OBJECTIVE

Our goal at Solo Venture Farms is to offer the very best Friesian Arabian cross available in North America today.
Why the Friesian Arabian cross you ask? We made this choice not just due to our personal preference of breeds but also on the recommendation of a genetics we consulted. After all every major breed in Europe has been positively influenced by using Arabian blood.
After breeding, raising and riding Friesians for 7 years we missed the responsiveness of the Arabians we grew up with. We also missed the stamina and longevity they offered. On the other hand we liked the baroque look of the Friesian as well as the bone and even temperament.
By crossing the two we have the best of both worlds. It also helps that this has been a proven cross in Europe and they even go so far as to label them "Turbo Friesians".
Choosing mares for our program ended up being quite a chore. We traveled all over the United States and Canada in our search and spent countless hours watching videos and making phone calls. All of our efforts have been greatly rewarded though in having a band of mares we can be proud of.
Our main emphasis was placed on three things; correct conformation with and emphasis on straight legs for long term soundness; dressage movement for the serious competitor or the ambitious at heart and lastly but probably most important, disposition.
The results of this cross have exceeded all our expectations as we now have grown horses from our program and they are truly wonderful. There is a tremendous presence about them that you just cant help but notice. They also have beautiful broad chests, necks set high on the withers, plenty of bone in the leg, large heartgirths, straight legs and hard well proportioned hooves.
They have exhibitive quite exquisite gaits as they normally overstep at the walk, just loose in the pasture, by 6-18 inches. The trots tend to be somewhat elevated with nice suspension and reach well under themselves with the hind end. The canters seem to also have some elevation but are true, big and reaching.
What is between the ears has also impressed us. They are willing, personable and kind and are gentle enough to make amateur mounts but have enough spirit to be fun and have the competitive edge when needed. They also have a tremendous heart as they are very willing to please and will not quite on you.
Our crosses tend to look very much like a good European warmblood when they are done growing. They average 15.1-15.3 in height. For some reason the boys are maturing taller than our girls but there are exceptions. With the amount of substance they have they appear much taller and will take up a good amount of the riders leg when mounted.
All in all we are very proud of what we have produced and thank you for taking the time browse our site. Enjoy!
